I am based in Seaford in Sussex and Southampton in Hampshire. I provide external transport manager services (national goods) across both counties.

My background:
I began driving lorries to get off the farm and expand my horizons. After passing the National goods transport manager CPC I set up as an owner driver – mostly on bulk tipper work.

This was all some time ago – if I tell you my weapon of choice was an Iveco 190 – 38 tractor pulling a Crane bathtub tipper you will have some idea. The Iveco was a magnificent piece of kit – 17L V8, 13 speed constant mesh gearbox – just a joy…

More recently I have re-entered the industry as an external transport manager. Things have changed… I completed the RHA refresher course December 2023. In order to become familiar with analysis software I installed a tacho in my 34yr old Land Rover Defender, which was an interesting project.

The new tacho was calibrated by Hammonds of Arundel and is downloaded using a Digidown device. Data is analysed on TruTac software which also enables excellent vehicle and driver management and walk-round inspections via the drivers smartphone.

Away from haulage I have been involved in commercial leisure sailing and training – teaching in the classroom and on the water. I keep a sailing boat on the Solent and have written a number of articles for sailing magazines.
