Drivers hours rules are a huge obstacle to compliance, both for the driver and his/her employer, the operator.
The regulatory framework around drivers hours places high expectations on both parties, driver and operator. Some would say unrealistic expectations given the dismal realities of operating in a business environment with thin margins over a road network that is not fit for purpose.
The only remedy is to be fully ‘up to speed’ on the latest regulations and variations in how they are enforced.
Trade journals such as Commercial Motor and the RHA’s in-house magazine Roadway go a long way to giving the reader a near real-time overview of the industry.
Alongside the above magazines access to the governments website pages listed below is a major help.
